Nobel

In 1984, Desmond Tutu was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his commitment to the fight against apartheid and his defense of human rights.

After the end of the apartheid regime, Tutu was appointed as the chair of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC), an organization created to address the crimes committed during apartheid.

With his approach based on forgiveness and reconciliation, Tutu promoted a healing process for the nation, encouraging truth and justice as pathways to lasting peace.
